How would someone find out more information about "Vulnerable Mission" and the work you are doing? I've checked out the websites you recommend and am interested in knowing how I could get involved more.

Hi Jim.
My two good friends set out to Africa last year to do mission work (Sierra Leone). He-church planting and she-teaching kids in a mision school.I was shocked when I read their newsletter describing the dusty, hot and dingy conditions (what were they expecting?)and the overall lack of adequate (in their minds) amenities. I was further saddened by the tone in which they mocked their host country, perhaps in search of some spicy newsworthy morsel, perhaps in hopes of pity to how much they were giving up to help out these "lost" Africans.More appalling was recognizing that I did the same thing years ago upon my return from Zambia with slides and stories to gross out, to shock, to draw sympathy ect.ect.etc. I didn't realize then the lack of love or the abundance of my own arrogance when I presented the us and them picture of mission life. Just like the big fences and walls that often separate missionaries from impneding dangers ...or the locals!Jim.-You're right on track! You are vulnerable-the only way a believer, a follower of Jesus should be. The way Jesus was toward us. I think we not only need vulnerable mission, but a vulnerable church.
